Publishing Welsh Town Guides Since 1998

Machynlleth.net is part of the Croeso network of Welsh town guides, published by Welcome Group Ltd. The network has been publishing visitor guides to the towns of Wales since 1998 — long enough to have watched the web change several times over, and long enough to know that what visitors actually want is simple: accurate, specific, local information. This site covers Machynlleth and the Dyfi Valley: things to do, places to eat, places to stay, the town's remarkable history and everything around it. You'll find the network's other guides — from Aberaeron to Wrexham — linked in the directory at the foot of every page.

Editorial Independence

The guide pages on this site are written independently. We research the facts, verify them against primary sources where we can, and we don't accept payment to say nice things. Businesses can pay for listings and feature pages — that's how the guide is funded, along with advertising and affiliate links — but paid placements are presented as what they are, and a listing fee buys presence, not praise. Where a feature page carries copy supplied by the business itself, we say so. If we think something is worth your time, it's because we think so. The site also carries Google advertising and a Booking.com affiliate accommodation search; both are labelled as such, and together with listings they are what keep the guide free to read.

How Listings Work

Two options. A standard listing starts from £120 + VAT per year and places your business details on the relevant directory page of the guide, where visitors researching the town will find them. A featured listing costs £360 + VAT per year and includes a dedicated feature page of up to 500 words with two images and a link to your website, plus category and home-page placement, social sharing at launch and one free update during the term. Full details, including the optional professional video add-on, are on our advertise page — or email [email protected] to get started.

Spotted a Mistake? Tell Us

Small towns change quickly: cafes change hands, opening hours shift with the seasons, and events move their dates. We verify facts when pages are written and review them regularly, but no guide to a living town is ever finished, and we would far rather hear about a mistake than leave it standing. If you find something on this site that's out of date or plain wrong, please email [email protected] with the page and the correction — we aim to publish corrections within 48 hours. Businesses are welcome to do the same for their own entries — if your opening hours, menu or rooms have changed, tell us and we'll bring the page up to date. And a general note for every page on this guide: opening times and prices change, so always confirm directly with the venue before travelling, especially around bank holidays and the town's big event weekends. Official tourism, transport and heritage sources are listed on our useful links page.
